Effect of the volume of the switching unit on the properties of magnetic recording particles
The close correlation between some instability characteristics of magnetic recording oxides (such as print-through and temperature dependence of coercivity) and the volume of the switching unit (VSU) is confirmed. It is also found that the VSU correlates very closely with the transverse field magnet...

Summary: | The close correlation between some instability characteristics of magnetic recording oxides (such as print-through and temperature dependence of coercivity) and the volume of the switching unit (VSU) is confirmed. It is also found that the VSU correlates very closely with the transverse field magnetic stability (TFMS) in cobalt-modified iron oxides. It is shown, however, that the correlation between the VSU and treatments of the particles so that very small particles can be made which, however, have relatively large values of the VSU. Such findings seem to confirm the granular nature of gamma -Fe/sub 2/O/sub 3/ particles.< > |
