Summary: | The variation of the amplitude-attenuation coefficient for acoustic shear waves propagating parallel to the applied magnetic field in the mixed state of a type II superconductor is studied theoretically on the basis of a phenomenological model which takes into account in a consistent manner the coupling between the flux line lattice and the crystal lattice. Numerical application to several traditional type II superconductors gives reasonably good agreement with experiment. The frequency dependence of the attenuation coefficient is also in agreement with experiment. |
