Summary:Nomographs for the nitriding of carbon steels obtained from calculations based on a nonlinear model of diffusion are presented. Dependence of the diffusion coefficients of carbon and nitrogen on their concentrations in the steel is estimated by using the nomographs which are also found to provide more complete information on the conditions and results of nitriding. Suggested method of calculation of the nonlinear model of nitriding (on changing of corresponding initial data) were also applicable for constructing nomographs for thermomechanical treatment involving saturation from the gaseous phase.
