On the life of an ion-nitrided HSS cutting tool

This paper presents the results of a study concerned with the influence of ion-nitriding treatment on the life of a high-speed steel (AISI-M2) cutting tool. It is shown that such treatment can increase significantly the life of a tool operating in both continuous- and intermittent-cutting.
