Description
Summary:The light scattering, birefringence and the refractive index of porous glasses have been studied. The general rule of the symmetry of the distribution of optical properties in the bulk sample has been established. The optical properties of porous glass have been shown to depend on porous glass structural peculiarities including the spindle-like inhomogeneities discovered by the authors. The results of the investigation enable porous glasses to be produced with the required optical characteristics.
