Quantum beats of excitons in quantum wells

Authors observe quantum beats in the decay of coherent polarization of intrinsic excitation in GaAs/GaAlAs quantum wells. The beating arises from interference of excitons with slightly different quantum confinement energy due to well-width fluctuations.
