Removal of Inclusion from Molten Steel in Continuous Casting Tundish
The chemical compositions of tundish flux were studied to decrease oxygen content in molten steel in the tundish. Production scale experiments revealed that high basicity flux (CaO/SiO2≥11.0) is superior in decreasing oxygen content, compared with low basicity flux (CaO/SiO2=0.83). Oxidation and deo...

Summary: | The chemical compositions of tundish flux were studied to decrease oxygen content in molten steel in the tundish. Production scale experiments revealed that high basicity flux (CaO/SiO2≥11.0) is superior in decreasing oxygen content, compared with low basicity flux (CaO/SiO2=0.83). Oxidation and deoxidation rates in the tundish were evaluated quantitatively based on the experimental results. Mathematical model was developed to make clear the behavior of oxygen concentration and to predict the change in oxygen concentration during casting. The effects of influential factors on the change in oxygen concentration were discussed. |
