The electrodynamics of the heavy fermion state of CeAl3

The optical conductivity of CeAl3 was evaluated by combining complementary experimental techniques to cover the spectral range from dc to 3 eV. A narrow resonance in the correlated heavy fermion state was observed and the temperature dependence of the effective mass evaluated.
