Summary: | 3 types of barrier film of 1000 Polyactive 55/45 PEG-PBT were used in rat adhesion model experiments to determine which barrier form would be most effective in reducing postoperative adhesion in e.g. gynaecological surgery. Neither nonporous nor porous film reduces adhesion formation as compared with control experiments; however a bilayered film, composed of a porous underlayer and a nonporous top layer reduced adhesion formation significantly. Subsequently a more malleable porous/dense film was designed which did not fracture. (Original abstract-amended) |
