Relationship between niobium content and pitting corrosion resistance in ferritic stainless steels
Pitting corrosion behaviour of three ferritic stainless steels with different niobium contents was studied by measuring the critical pitting potential and the induction time for pitting. The results indicate an increase in critical pitting potential and in the induction time when the niobium content...

Summary: | Pitting corrosion behaviour of three ferritic stainless steels with different niobium contents was studied by measuring the critical pitting potential and the induction time for pitting. The results indicate an increase in critical pitting potential and in the induction time when the niobium content increases. These results are discussed in terms of the superficial semiconductor oxide changes promoted by niobium ion incorporation. |
