Sol-gel lead borate glass films for low-temperature bonding
A spin-coating/sol-gel process for preparing thin solder glass films based on lead borate with a low working temperature is reported. Results of preliminary bonding experiments are also presented. A solution of various metallorganic compounds was used as the precursor. It was possible to deposit a d...

description | A spin-coating/sol-gel process for preparing thin solder glass films based on lead borate with a low working temperature is reported. Results of preliminary bonding experiments are also presented. A solution of various metallorganic compounds was used as the precursor. It was possible to deposit a doped borate glass film by the described technique followed by decomposition of the metallorganic compounds by firing at temperatures higher than 425 C. The film morphology (amorphous or crystalline) depends on the substrate type. These films are used for bonding materials such as B270 glass, B270 glass + 0.1 micron Cr, and BaTiO3. The bond is strong enough to withstand dicing. 3 refs. |
