Description
Summary:The present study of a TiC-ceramic/Ni3Al-intermetallic functionally gradient material disk under heat-resistance test conditions notes that the temperature field across the material changes linearly. A close relationship is seen between residual stress, working stress, and the compositional distribution exponent p. By controlling p, one not only gains the maximum stress relaxation, but also the site of maximum thermal stress, which occurs at the high-strength, metal-rich side. (AIAA)
