Description
Summary:The effect of compositional variations in the family of Ni-Mn-Ga based shape memory alloys on martensitic temperatures, thermal hysteresis, Curie temperature and transformation heat was investigated for the purpose of defining the structural and magnetic properties. Twenty-three different compositions with a sample weight of 120 g were prepared by repeated induction heating under argon atmosphere and cast into a copper mold. The results indicate that several structural types of martensite can be formed in this system by cooling and an alloy with given properties can be prepared in the Ni-Mn-Ga system.
