Summary: | A method to estimate the statistical properties of a geometrically nonlinear mode spectrum for large amplitude forced vibration systems is presented. It is shown here that this technique is readily applicable to geometrically nonlinear small strain problems in which the equations of motion of structures are derived using the finite element method. A general formulation for problems of this type is presented. The efficiency of the method is illustrated by its application to a nonlinear vibration of an elastic beam. |
