Combination of ion implantation and film deposition for forming an antifriction wear-resistant carbon coating
In the present paper it is reported that upon combining carbon deposition and subsequent ion implantations of carbon and zirconium ions, the complex carbonaceous coatings (about 0.22 mu m) on the surface of AISI M2 steel are formed. Summary: | In the present paper it is reported that upon combining carbon deposition and subsequent ion implantations of carbon and zirconium ions, the complex carbonaceous coatings (about 0.22 mu m) on the surface of AISI M2 steel are formed. It is established that the presence of such films leads to wear reduction, a decrease of the friction coefficient and an increase in nanohardness of steel. |
