Summary: | There were casted several tools for moulding plastic pieces by injection using a centrifugal casting process, which was applied under different conditions of pouring temperature and centrifugal forces. Tools were made of a copper-2 wt.% titanium 1% chromium. The moulds were made using a mixture of bauxite powder binded with ethyl silicate. Casting parameters were correlated with the quality of the tools that were obtained. It was concluded that best results were obtained using forces of 6-8 G without ceramic filters and pouring temperatures between 1150-1200 deg C. |
