Summary: | The performance of the Ritchey-Chretien telescope reflectance filters for the Multi-spectra Solar Telescope Array rocket observatory is demonstrated. The Ritchey-Chretien telescope for the Lyman-alpha line was designed and fabricated using the pi-multilayer concept. A net throughput of 27 percent with a bandwidth of 6 nm at an angle of incidence of 10 deg was achieved. The calculated reflectance as a function of angle exhibited low angular sensitivity from 0 to 15 deg. The measured values are in agreement with the calculated vlaues, and the throughput improvement achieved is almost an order of magnitude over the traditional instrument designed with an Al-MgF2-coated mirror and transmission filter.
