Floor tiles fabricated from polymineral clays from mineral deposits of the Republic of Belarus
Mixtures for fabricating floor tiles composed of a low-melting clay from the Lukoml' deposit (Vitebsk region) and high-melting clays from the Gorodnoe deposit (Brest region) and Gorodok deposit (Gomel region), together with fluxing agents (nepheline concentrate, pearlite, glass cullet, and cupo...

Summary: | Mixtures for fabricating floor tiles composed of a low-melting clay from the Lukoml' deposit (Vitebsk region) and high-melting clays from the Gorodnoe deposit (Brest region) and Gorodok deposit (Gomel region), together with fluxing agents (nepheline concentrate, pearlite, glass cullet, and cupola slag), were synthesised. The technological conditions for obtaining high-quality products are specified. The structural features and phase composition of the synthesised mixtures are discussed. It is shown that these clays are suitable for floor tile production, provided that a suitable combination of clays of different composition is used, together with a composite flux. An adequate sum total of R2O + RO + Fe2O3 and RO-to-R2O and R2O-to-Fe2O3 oxide ratios must also be provided for. 6 refs. |
