Summary: | A composition and technology for producing a high-Al2O3 ramming mixture based on chamotte from Chinese bauxites with partial replacement of the chamotte by pyrophyllite from the Gaiskoe Deposit is described. The pyrophyllite meets the requirements for refractoriness (at least 1650 C) and composition. A ramming mixture containing 15-20% refractory pyrophyllite prepared under laboratory conditions met the requirements for grade MMK-65 (TU 14-8-337-80). The chemical and mineralogical compositions of the pyrophyllite samples, and the chemical composition and grain size distribution of the ramming mixture, are given. An industrial batch was produced by the Semiluki Refractory Plant and tested in linings of 180-ton steel teeming ladles; the service life was similar to that of MMK-65 (about 20 heats). |
