Summary: | Hydroxyapatite coatings on alumina ceramics were prepared by an oxidative/decomposition method of EDTA-calcined chelate. The coating layers were examined by XRD, SEM, ICP and IR spectroscopy. Results showed that at pH greater than 9 the hydroxyapatite is highly crystalline consisting of hexagonal columnar crystals. In addition, IR and ICP suggest that the PO4(3-) site is partly substituted by CO3(2-) groups. 9 refs. |
