Summary: | The grafting of PEG onto alumina powder is studied, and the effect of the reaction temperature on the amount of polymer grafted determined. It is found that the amount is strongly dependent on temperature, and a well-defined level can be obtained by heating at an appropriate temperature and then washing to remove unreacted excess polymer. Grafting from a polymer solution rather than a melt is also found to be effective. 8 refs. |
