Description
Summary:The characteristics of various water-soluble polymers and the deformation behaviour of plastic corundum mixtures plasticised by their solutions, with the concentration of the dispersion media close to the optimum moulding concentrations, were determined. Polymers examined were nonionogenic PVA and methylcellulose; anionogenic carboxymethylcellulose; the copolymerisation product of sodium methacrylate, methyl methacrylate and ethoxyamine methacrylate; and a cation-active copolymer of the amide of methacrylic acid and diethylaminoethyl methacrylate acrylated by dimethyl sulphate. The energy of cohesive interaction, molecular weight, intrinsic viscosity, degree of polymerisation, and chain rigidity of the polymers, and the moisture content, plasticity, elasticity, and relaxation time of plastic corundum mixtures containing them, were determined. Recommendations are given. 10 refs.
