The drastic enhancement of ferromagnetic properties of a new Heusler-type nitride TiCoN sub x Sn

The magnetic properties of a new class of itinerant Heusler-type nitrides TiCoN sub x Sn with 0 < =x < =0.33 were investigated. The results showed that the Curie temperature and saturation magnetization of the nitrides were drastically enhanced from 149K and 0.39 mu B/Co to 362K and 0.91 mu B/...

Description
Summary:The magnetic properties of a new class of itinerant Heusler-type nitrides TiCoN sub x Sn with 0 < =x < =0.33 were investigated. The results showed that the Curie temperature and saturation magnetization of the nitrides were drastically enhanced from 149K and 0.39 mu B/Co to 362K and 0.91 mu B/Co, respectively. These values are close to those for TiCo sub 2 Sn. These enhancements are attributed to the introduction of nitrogen atoms into the vacancy sublattice sites of MgAgAs-type TiCoSn.
