Summary: | The performance of four graphites and glassy carbon as sensor anode materials in chronoamperometry experiments for the determination of Al2O3 in alumina:cryolite melts was investigated. With graphite anodes the anode processes were not fully diffusion controlled, nor were the results adequately reproducible. The anodic processes were diffusion controlled for glassy carbon anodes, and the relationship of the response current function and Al2O3 concentration was approximately linear. The results were significantly affected by the presence of Al metal. 20 refs. |
