Summary:This paper describes the algorithm and implementation of an experimental full-digital HDTV system we have recently developed. The video and audio compression algorithms are similar to MPEG-2 video Simple Profile at High-1440 Level and MPEG-1 audio Layer II, respectively. The system has been implemented using off-the-shelf IC's and programmable logic devices, and provides a fairly good video/audio quality despite relatively low complexity.
