Description
Summary:A range of surface analytical techniques and procedures that have been used to identify problem coatings are described. Surface analysis has opened up a range of opportunities to the coating and plating community to test the integrity and composition of its products. The task of choosing an appropriate technique and procedure is one that always confronts new entrants to a field; however, the international community of surface analysis has, over the past few years, proven to be particularly approachable because many of its adherents are engaged in applications work. Many answers to frequently asked questions concerning applications from those new to the field can be found at the web site: http:/ /surf.ssw.uwo.ca.
