Description
Summary:Ceramics close to the composition Zr0.6Sn0.4TiO2 were prepared by the mixed oxides method using an industrial attrition mill. Sintered specimens were characterised by SEM and EDX. Their porosities and densities were measured. Samples exhibit densities ranging from 5.1 to 5.3, together with very low porosity (less than 0.1%). Microwave dielectric measurements at 3 GHz show that, for an optimised grinding method, the dielectric constant is close to 37, with a quality factor Q as high as 18000 (Q*f greater than 55000 THz). The results show that the milling time required is less than that when using other grinding methods. 6 refs.
