Summary: | An investigation is conducted of the effect of the substitution of Mo by W on the impact behavior of simulated heat-affected zones (HAZs) in 22-Cr duplex stainless steels; also studied are the structural transformations associated with such compositional substitution in the HAZs in W-containing alloys and in conventional 3-percent Mo duplex stainless steel. It is found that the HAZ impact toughness remains nearly constant despite cooling rate variations associated with Mo substitution by W. (AIAA) |
