Description
Summary:Previously abstracted from original as item 199505-56-0294. Specific features of rapid austenization and mechanical properties are considered for low alloy steel type 09G2S quenched after hot rolling from the temperature of alpha - gamma transformation. Accelerated heating of the steel with initial ferritic-pearlitic structure results in austenite formation with nonuniform carbon distribution at the beginning of alpha - gamma transformation. The optimum quenching temperature is shown to fall within the range of delayed transformation. By the end of this stage (approx810 deg C) the distribution of carbon in austenite is levelled. The quenched steel has homogeneous structure and high mechanical properties.
