Summary: | This letter reports power optimization of a 2 micron Tm,Ho:YAG microchip laser when pumped by a Ti:sapphire laser at room temperature. A slope efficiency of 70 percent and a minimum threshold power of 12 mW with a half-symmetric stable resonator geometry was observed when pumping beam diameter coincided with the beam waist of the resonator. Lasing performance with the half-symmetric stable resonator was better than with a near-planar one, which is also reported. (Author) |
