Hydrothermal and Activated Solid State Syntheses of SrTiO3 Fine Powders

A new variant of the method of hydrothermal synthesis of SrTiO3 particles with sizes of about 5-50 nm was developed using aqueous solutions of Sr(OH)2 and TiCl4 at temperatures of 20-100 C and atmospheric pressure. Single phase SrTiO3 powders with mean particle sizes of 100 and 400 nm were also prod...

Description
Summary:A new variant of the method of hydrothermal synthesis of SrTiO3 particles with sizes of about 5-50 nm was developed using aqueous solutions of Sr(OH)2 and TiCl4 at temperatures of 20-100 C and atmospheric pressure. Single phase SrTiO3 powders with mean particle sizes of 100 and 400 nm were also produced by solid state reactions of various powder mixtures consisting of SrCO3 or Sr(NO3)2 and H2TiO3 as well as SrCO3 and TiO2 in the presence of SrCl2 and NaCl activating additives at 875 and 820 C. 6 refs.
