Highly oriented structure of hot-extruded Tl2Ba2Ca2Cu3 oxides prepared from MG powders

The effect of mechanical grinding (MG) on the microstructure of hot-extruded Tl2Ba2Ca2Cu3Oy wires with an Ag sheath was examined and the possibility of fabricating an oriented structure investigated. Fine Tl2Ba2Ca2Cu3Oy powders with a particle size below 1 micron were obtained by MG. By using the fi...

description The effect of mechanical grinding (MG) on the microstructure of hot-extruded Tl2Ba2Ca2Cu3Oy wires with an Ag sheath was examined and the possibility of fabricating an oriented structure investigated. Fine Tl2Ba2Ca2Cu3Oy powders with a particle size below 1 micron were obtained by MG. By using the fine MG powders, workability is improved and an oriented structure can be obtained with c plane parallel to wire direction in the hot-extrusion process. Consequently, the MG treatment is concluded to be useful for the preparation of Tl2Ba2Ca2Cu3Oy wire with oriented structure by hot-@close@ extrusion. 5 refs.
