Structural traits of failure of steel specimens under high-speed impulsive loading

Summary: | See Met. A. 199501-31-0164. The distribution of structural variations over 45 and 40G18F steel samples has been investigated under high-speed pulse loading. Microscopic and x-ray analysis were used to study the deformation distribution on failed surfaces. Failed steels reveal strain hardening at room temperature and -190 deg C. Strain and phase hardening improve the hardness of steels under consideration by 1.2-2.3 times. |
