Summary: | Tessellations have been identified as a valuable tool in characterising and quantifying the effects of particle distribution and morphology on crack initiation and growth in particle reinforced materials. For the short crack growth regime of interest here, crack-reinforcement interactions occurred preferentially in small particle/low reinforcement content regions. Further analysis of the tessellation data indicated that these observations were related, with a controlling influence of either characteristic on crack growth explaining the observed variations in the other. |
