Shape Memory Effect of a Nd-doped Polycrystalline NiAl Alloy
The shape memory behavior of polycrystalline NiAl-Nd alloy is investigated. It is found that the microalloying element Nd refines the grains of NiAl alloy, which decreases the martensitic transformation temperature in comparison with the binary NiAl alloy with the same Ni content. A stress-induced p...

Summary: | The shape memory behavior of polycrystalline NiAl-Nd alloy is investigated. It is found that the microalloying element Nd refines the grains of NiAl alloy, which decreases the martensitic transformation temperature in comparison with the binary NiAl alloy with the same Ni content. A stress-induced phase transformation, 7M - 3R, occurs during yielding in NiAl-Nd alloy. A completely recoverable strain of 3.3 percent is obtained in NiAl-Nd alloy. (AIAA) |
