Summary: | Calcium diacetyl hydrogen-phosphonate complex was formed in situ during maturing of a solution aimed for hydroxyapatite (HAp) production. Since the purity of HAp depends on slight changes of the stoichiometry, the quantitative transformation of the phosphorous precursor into a mixed diacetyl hydrogen-phosphonate anhydride and subsequent chelation to calcium ions is considered to be both rate-determining step and a critical factor controlling the purity of the final product. |
