Summary:EMERTA is concerned with the implications of two emerging technologies and associated concepts for aeronautical use, Next Generation Satellite Systems (NGSS) and Airborne Separation Assurance Systems (ASAS). Concerned with first steps in the use of both technologies, EMERTA establishes the feasibility of using NGSS services ‘as they are’ to meet Air Traffic Service and Airline Operation Centre requirements and assesses the practical feasibility of the early introduction of ASAS applications in Europe.
