Summary: | Results are presented of a research project aimed at developing a system for equipment design based on integration of the commercial CAD/CAM systems Mechanical Desktop 4, AutoDesk, and SolidEdge V7. By coupling these design systems with a PDS integration module and a Component Object Model, the equipment design process can be conducted more efficiently. FEMEX feature definition with the new system conforms to VDI 2218 guidelines. The functioning of the CAD interfaces and automatic generation of component and equipment designs through Dynamic Link Libraries are described. The integrated software system has applications in various branches of engineering and equipment design. |
