Description
Summary:Reviews the current status of conferencing systems based on a recent survey. Reports on a sophisticated conferencing system implemented on the Brindleyplace project in Birmingham, which included a mobile video camera for resolving site queries and assisting the overall management decision making process. Looks at future developments of such equipment and the concept of "wearable computers". The introduction of conferencing systems is seldom a technical issue. The barriers are usually implementation, human and organizational issues. Such barriers can be overcome through education and training. (Original abstract - amended)
