Recovery of damaged surface in operation of a friction pair in the presence of ultrafine copper alloy powder

Summary: | The process of recovery of a region of a surface with an artificially created defect in the form of a turned groove upon friction of a steel 40-steel 20KhN3A pair in motor oil with an additive of ultrafine copper alloy powder is described. It is shown that the process of recovery is connected with the formation of wear-resistant structures, which possess a high plasticity because they consist of very fine "copper-plated" wear particles. It is assumed that the formation of such structures is a consequence of the low solubility of Cu in the steel. |
