Synthesis and characterization of Li sub(2)Mn sub(4)O sub(9) cathode material

A highly oxidized lithium manganospinel, Li sub(2)Mn sub(4)O sub(8+z), was prepared from LiMnO sub(4) and MnCO sub(3) precursors. The effect of synthesis temperature, time, and oxygen partial pressure on the extent of oxidation of the material was investigated by thermogravimetry (TG). X-ray diffrac...

Description
Summary:A highly oxidized lithium manganospinel, Li sub(2)Mn sub(4)O sub(8+z), was prepared from LiMnO sub(4) and MnCO sub(3) precursors. The effect of synthesis temperature, time, and oxygen partial pressure on the extent of oxidation of the material was investigated by thermogravimetry (TG). X-ray diffraction (XRD), potentiometric titration, thermogravimetry, and elemental analyses were used to determine the stoichiometry of the product.
