Description
Summary:K2Sr4Nb10O30-based (KSN) dielectric ceramics, having the tetragonal tungsten bronze structure (TTB), and displaying a high dielectric constant and flat epsilon'r = f(T) curves meeting the X7R specification, were studied. The series K2Sr4(MgxNb10-x)O30-(3/2)x exhibits these properties, as well as K2Sr4Nb9.78O29.45 and K2(Sr3.25Pb0.75)Nb9.78O29.45 when sintered with MgO or ZrO2. Both X-ray and electron diffraction reveal the former composition to be a single phase material with the TTB structure. In this material, the presence of disorder, resulting from a large variation in the local K/Sr ratio and the presence of Zr on the octahedral Nb sites, is primarily responsible for the X7R epsilon'r = f(T) curve with epsilon'r,25 C = 5000. 7 refs.
