More than 90% of Afghans have been food insecure for a year, causing millions of children to suffer from acute malnutrition and life-threatening health problems. “The broader drivers remain the same: widespread poverty leading to poor access to nutritious foods, dire situation of safe drinking water leading to waterborne diseases, poor young child feeding practices in households, poor nutritional status of pregnant and lactating women, and lack of skilled nutrition counsellors.”
