Combustion synthesis of nanostructures
Novel carbon and inorganic 1D nanostructures were prepared by combustion of metalpolytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) systems in a calorimetric bomb. The high carbon yield from silicon-containing PTFE starting materials is due to the production and volatility of SiF4.
