Description
Summary:The structural and magnetic properties of Fe particles grown in a Cu matrix by annealing a precursor alloy of composition Cu 97Fe 3 are discussed. Structural characterization suggests that all segregated Fe particles are BCC-type. However, AC susceptibility and hysteresis loops display short-range antiferromagnetic correlations and a spin glass-like behavior. The former is analyzed in terms of the effects occurring at the particle surface, while the latter is associated with the Fe spins diluted in the Cu matrix.
