Summary: | The objective of the numerical simulations reported here was to validate a previously developed particle dynamics model and use it to capture the dominant features of the effect of microstructural texture and damage pattern on the response of solids subjected to high rate loading. Another objective was to identify and determine model parameters and their relation to the traditional macroscopic counterparts. The results of simulations demonstrate the utility of statistical mechanics. (AIAA) |
