Electronic and magnetic properties of an ordered surface alloy: 2(MnPd)/Pd(0 0 1)

Electronic structure and magnetism of the Mn layers grown on Pd(0 0 1) surface have been calculated by employing the FLAPW method. The antiferromagnetic 2(MnPd)/Pd(0 0 1) is most stable among the considered atomic structures for Mn monolayer grown on Pd(0 0 1). The magnetic moment of surface (subsur...

Description
Summary:Electronic structure and magnetism of the Mn layers grown on Pd(0 0 1) surface have been calculated by employing the FLAPW method. The antiferromagnetic 2(MnPd)/Pd(0 0 1) is most stable among the considered atomic structures for Mn monolayer grown on Pd(0 0 1). The magnetic moment of surface (subsurface) Mn atom of 2(MnPd)/Pd(0 0 1) is 4.21 μ B (−3.92 μ B) in the antiferromagnetic phase.
