Nonlinear internal friction character of foamed aluminum
Experiment and theory analysis have demonstrated that foamed aluminum (FA) has not only higher damping capacity over corresponding bulk Al, but has a nonlinear IF character which becomes more pronounced with decreasing the density and pore size of it. Summary: | Experiment and theory analysis have demonstrated that foamed aluminum (FA) has not only higher damping capacity over corresponding bulk Al, but has a nonlinear IF character which becomes more pronounced with decreasing the density and pore size of it. This amplitude-dependent damping might be ascribed to higher density of vacancies generated in the foaming, and of dislocations around pore boundaries. |
