Summary: | Slopes formed of hydraulically deposited material assume profiles that are geometrically similar, almost irrespective of the length and height of the slope. The fact that hydraulic fill beaches will assume a master or Melent'ev profile can be used to advantage in the design of hydraulic fill tailings storage dams. Describes some situations under which a master profile will form, and some characteristics of such profiles. Knowledge of the subject is far from complete. (Original abstract-amended) |
