Summary: | NIMONIC PE16 alloy was studied to determine the effects of Cr on the solubility of gamma '- forming elements and suppression of gamma '- precipitation. Chromium was added to two sample melts to test Cr contents of 17 at% (NIMONIC PE16), 23 at%, and 29 at%. After suitable heat treatments to ensure the formation of gamma '- precipitates, samples were examined by TEM. The data show that increasing the Cr content lowers the volume fraction of gamma ' phase, thus indicating an increased solubility of gamma '- forming elements, and lowers the growth rate of gamma '- precipitates. |
